Under the direction of laboratory leadership, the Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for attaining or exceeding laboratory service sales quota for his/her assigned territory. The Sales Representative will represent the full portfolio of Tufts Medicine (TM) laboratory test offerings and will focus on new practice acquisition, sales growth in existing accounts, and customer retention.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute a strategic business plan which consistently delivers quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Identify potential market growth opportunities, determine resources needed to capture new volume, and communicate with sales leadership.
  • Solicit detailed input from all internal and external stakeholder to support decision-making.
  • Provide superior service to providers, generating tailored solutions to each office in compliance within all applicable regulatory guidelines including but not limited to HIPAA, OIG and Sunshine Act.
  • Drive efficient use of resources and tools such as market data analysis, dinner budget and collateral sales aides to drive revenue growth.
  • Ensure timely and efficient use of the customer relationship management (CRM) system with a goal of creating a single source of truth for each provider/practice.
  • Adhere to Tufts Medicine’s compliance guidelines for interacting with physician offices and staff members.
  • Determine high-value additions to TM test menu and communicate to sales leadership.
  • Request support from laboratory analyst and clinical experts as needed.
  • Provide feedback to support services to ensure continuous improvement for clients.
  • Attend required in-person and remote meetings as requested.
  • Complete expense reports and other administrative functions in a timely fashion and in accordance with TM policies.

Experience

  • Bachelors Degree required; life sciences background preferred
  • Two to five years in diagnostic testing sales, pharmaceutical sales, or other life science sales
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate Tufts Medicine’s laboratory value proposition clearly and persuasively
  • Adept at probing and active listening to identify opportunities for growth in client practices
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to interface effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze data, prioritize activities, and generate strategic plan to meet sales goals
  • Follow through and a commitment to provide superior customer experience for new and existing physician offices
  • Must have the ability to work without direct supervision; make independent judgments and multi-task.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
  • Driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation required
